Schedule Scarfing

  • There will be (should be) lots of apps. Would be convenient if there were a common stream of program information.
  • Some good commercial sources exist, such as Tribune Media. Upside: you get cable lineup, ftp'able proram guide information. Downside: you pay $10k/month.
  • A public flow of this information with standard markup would certainly enhance interoperability.
  • Issues are tools for scraping web sites as legacy solution and proper format for representing the data. While one could expect networks to provide data in XML from their sites, that won't happen until somebody (e.g., the net) bootstraps the process and defines the formats.
